In 2012, Livable Meck hosted over 2,000 residents in focus groups. Those focus groups were the basis of the Livable Meck Community Plan. The community plan drives the work of Livable Meck and includes seven guiding principles: WELCOMING, INNOVATIVE, CONNECTED, INCLUSIVE, PREPARED, HEALTHY, and RESILIENT.
It is time to update the Livable Meck Community Plan. Beginning in the summer of 2018, Livable Meck will initiate the “Voice of the Community” process. The “Voice of the Community” process will host a series of focus groups, online surveys, and other engagement opportunities to find out what matters most to residents.
Resident's voices will determine Livable Meck's priorities and actions for the future.
Livable Meck has always been a resident-focused effort and will continue to be in the future. The “Voice of the Community” process will provide valuable information about residents’ experiences, needs, priorities, and concerns – particularly as we navigate rapid growth. Data collected during “Voice of the Community” will be shared with Livable Meck Partners (including the towns, City of Charlotte, Foundation for the Carolinas, etc.) as well as any other interested host.
Livable Meck Partners will have the opportunity to hosts focus groups and engagement opportunities. Likewise, interested private businesses, community groups, neighborhoods, faith-based groups, etc. are invited to serve as a host for “Voice of the Community.” To inquire about being an engagement host, please contact LivableMeck@mecklenburgcountync.gov.*
*Hosts will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis; consideration will be given to geographic/ space needs, etc.
